This chapter examines Kosovo’s relationship with the U.S. and its implications for EU policy. In doing so, the following matters are considered: firstly, the U.S.’ role in the birth of Kosovo’s statehood; secondly, public perception of the U.S. in Kosovo as well as its involvement in the country’s security and defence sector; and thirdly, the implications of these relations for EU policy. Hence, light is shed on the U.S.’ impact on the future of Europe based on existing experience and U.S. policy actions in Kosovo, as well as their implications for EU institutions.
