Being a branch of entrepreneurship development, tourism has great prospects and opportunities for contributing to the national economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, reducing poverty, and raising the overall quality of living for the population. Both self-employed and entrepreneurs providing jobs for the unemployed can participate in tourism. This is especially crucial for rural areas, where poverty levels are higher, and increasing the incomes is essential. To improve macroeconomic indicators and stimulate economic growth, the potential for developing tourism is being actively explored. The research aims to define tourism as a promising sector of the economy for solving social problems in the context of the developing economy of the Kyrgyz Republic. To achieve the research goal, the authors analyzed the main indicators of tourism development and considered its possibilities for overcoming poverty and improving the population’s well-being. A review of the experience of tourism development in other countries allowed the authors to identify the negative and positive aspects of tourism development in the future.
