Charting a Path Forward
摘要
This chapter outlines the fundamental steps necessary for the successful planning and implementation of sustainable refugee shelters. Each of the preceding chapters focuses on a subject vital to the structure of sustainable emergency shelters and communities. Ideally, planners and designers should include all of them in their designs. However, refugee housing communities in many countries do not provide all the facilities and shelters with sustainable ideals; thus, compromises are often made. Although displaced people tend to live in these communities for years, they live without all the necessities of human life. This concluding chapter reviews the practical aspects of building sustainable emergency shelters. It describes basic steps that planners can follow at the outset of their design, offers an outlook on refugee shelter design and construction, and outlines solutions for these growing crises.
