This chapter explores the tensions in different types of knowledge in behavioural insights. The chapter begins by developing a framework of technical, local, craft, and normative knowledges before exploring how these knowledges both compete and are complementary. I examine how policy actors consider the use of scientific evidence, the policy expertise of public servants, the experiences of the community, and wisdom and assumptions of what should be done in policy in behavioural insights. This chapter draws out the complementarity and tensions in knowledges.

摘要

This chapter explores the tensions in different types of knowledge in behavioural insights. The chapter begins by developing a framework of technical, local, craft, and normative knowledges before exploring how these knowledges both compete and are complementary. I examine how policy actors consider the use of scientific evidence, the policy expertise of public servants, the experiences of the community, and wisdom and assumptions of what should be done in policy in behavioural insights. This chapter draws out the complementarity and tensions in knowledges.
