Collaborative Living in Italy
摘要
This chapter reflects on the theme of collaborative living in Italy to understand how this concept is brought into action today. Solidarity and collaborative living are in fact becoming umbrella concepts—often used interchangeably. They incorporate a variety of experiences, some of which are very different from each other, taking the form of both bottom-up and top-down experiences. However, the conceptual shift from collaboration to solidarity is not a foregone conclusion and the two terms push towards worlds that are only partly similar, in continuity with the past but in specific directions in the future. This dynamic is central to the concept of cohousing. As we will also see in the following chapters, collaboration is a defining feature of any form of cohousing. However, as this chapter will show, the concept of collaboration remains open to interpretation; additionally, the convergence (and partial overlap) between the terms “collaboration” and “solidarity” emerging within social housing policies represent a unique area of study at this historical moment in Italy.
