Regional Police Force is an exercise in understanding and applying the GSDP to a major change in the organisation of the Dutch Police. In the old situation, there was one state police organisation (in Dutch, Rijkspolitie) and a huge number of municipal police corpses. In the new situation, there are 25 autonomous regions, each divided into a number of districts. One of the largest regions is the region Rotterdam-Rijnmond. The initiative that the board of this region took was to align the many and various automated systems that were in use. To achieve this, the organisational unit ROSS was established.
