In this chapter, an attempt has been made to assess the issues and challenges of sustainable land use and agricultural innovation with respect to existing policies, programs, schemes, and projects introduced by the government for the district. Assessment of these problems and their solutions is necessary to boost and revitalize agricultural innovation process of the district. Therefore, the very first section of this chapter starts with the analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) in order to identify key factors of agriculture in particular and the land use process in general. A highlight of area-specific (village-level in this case) constraints faced by the farmers using a rating scale is discussed in the next section. In addition to the household responses, interactive discussions and in-depth interviews with farmers and Pradhan of respective villages are taken into consideration for the present analysis. Evidence-based policy intervention has been suggested in the subsequent section of this chapter to sort out existing problems. This chapter is entirely based on primary data sources collected through focus group discussion, in depth interview, and interactive qualitative discussions. In the last section, the findings of the three hypotheses have been presented.

摘要
