Sustainable Land Use Practices by Land Size Classes
摘要
This chapter emphasizes sustainable land use dynamics and cropping patterns under different land size categories at block levels in the district. The concept, meaning, classification, and theories and models related to sustainable land use have been elucidated in the first section. Following after the nine-fold land use classifications, a detailed account of cropping pattern by major crop categories and top ten crops which shares maximum gross cropped area is also analysed in the second section. In the third section, sustainable land use index has been prepared by land size classes from 1995–1996 to 2015–2016. In the final section, field survey responses regarding causes of sustainable land use and cropping pattern changes have been apprehended. The most discussed and analysed parts of this chapter are based on secondary sources of data; however, primary sources are also used to bring out in-depth factors that stimulate changes in land use. The sustainable land use index and detecting cropping pattern change are some of the methods used in this chapter.
