The growing awareness, particularly concerning environmental issues within the fashion industry, highlights the crucial role of education in promoting the adoption of circular practices and fostering sustainability principles within fashion design education. This article investigates the integration of circular economy (CE) and sustainability in fashion design education, with a specific focus on the Fashion Design Technician course (FDTC) at the secondary education level. The primary objective is to explore the importance of these concepts in FDTC, as perceived by educators. The study employs a methodological approach that combines qualitative and quantitative analysis, including documentary source study and a questionnaire survey administered to forty FDTC teachers during the academic year 2023/24. The findings reveal that FDTC teachers place considerable emphasis on sustainability and CE matters, recognizing their importance not only in preparing secondary school students but specifically in shaping future fashion designers. This recognition persists despite the absence of explicit mentions of these principles in the curriculum documents across the various course subjects. Moreover, the study observes that teachers actively integrate many of these principles into their teaching strategies, showcasing a wide array of resources incorporated within the classroom environment. This research underscores the significance of aligning educational systems with the evolving dynamics of the fashion industry to foster positive change and contribute to a more sustainable future.
