Wave Propagation
摘要
This chapter gives an overview of wave propagationPropagation in slender rods, focussing on concepts relevant to HopkinsonHopkinson bar analysisHopkinson bar analysis. The first section gives a description of wave propagationPropagation in 1D rods, and introduces the concept of wave separationWave separation, sometimes used to allow longer duration experiments. The second section deals with dispersive waves in elastic rods, a phenomenon that occurs as a result of the frequency dependent wavespeedWavespeed in rods of finite diameter. Finally, the third section considers wave propagationPropagation and dispersion in viscoelasticDispersion – viscoelastic rods, setting out the equations that must be used, for example, in polymerPolymer bars.
