In recent debates, ‘landscape’ and ‘economy’ tend to appear as opposites. This article argues that human impact on landscape features strongly relates to economic dynamics. Landscape is both the result of economic activities and a precondition of specific value creation. Furthermore, the article presents different ways of monetizing landscape functions.
