The term landscape in the official geodata resources offered by public authorities in Germany is defined by standards derived from the practical requirements of land surveying. To implement the legal mandate of land surveying, the Digital Landscape Model (“Basis-DLM”) contains a selection of categorized objects of topography, which are officially managed and updated as topographical features. Further relevant manifestations of landscapes are represented by Digital Elevation or Terrain Models. In addition, 3D city models with different levels of detail are used to represent urban landscapes. This article presents these officially managed examples of landscape representation.
