Historicity: Landscape History—History of the Cultural Landscape

Historicity (historical authenticity) is articulated as an important interest in knowledge as regards the exploration of landscapes. Although temporal concepts are assumed implicitly in many studies, their limited range of content is usually left unquestioned. With the help of three highlighted aspects, the historicity of landscapes is illuminated. First, the different conceptualizations of time from a natural as well as a social and humanistic perspective is denoted. This results in different concepts of time; these help structure and evaluate historical processes and therefore landscape conditions. Finally, the time-bound aspects of historical interests in knowledge in the sense of historical epistemology.
