As with the highly complex concept of ‘landscape’, so too are the different disciplines, their approaches, and their ways of engaging ‘landscape’. This results in a profusion of disciplinary themes which can be interpreted as both enriching and challenging as regards both research and application. It becomes even more complex when landscape research is also perceived and conducted in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner. This article provides an overview of disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary landscape research for classification purposes.
