Landscape and (Social) Media
摘要
The aim of this handbook contribution is to provide an overview of the connections between (social) media and landscape in scientific studies. Media is attributed a central role in the construction of space and landscape, although they do not represent ‘reality’, they do create new imagery of the world. The scientific engagement with landscape and media shows great diversity and highlights the potential of media considerations for landscape research. Landscape is used partly in terms of the concept of media landscape, in a multitude of publications the contents of different media forms in relation to landscape and spatial construction are analyzed and the media discussion regarding socially relevant, sometimes conflicting, topics is considered.
