The body of literature on female sex offenders has been limited; however, there has been growing attention on understanding this population over the past few decades. Scholars have focused on offender, victim, and offense characteristics, typologies, societal perceptions, comparative research on types of female offenders, offense severity, and sentencing disparities. In this chapter, authors review this body of research, as well as assessment and intervention consideration for this population.
