Race, Gender, and Class in Francia Márquez’s Electoral Campaign in Colombia

The 2022 Colombian presidential elections were notably marked by the presence of black and female candidates in the process of building electoral ties with the leftist ticket. This article analyzes how gender and racial aspects were mobilized by Francia Márquez’s campaign for vice president. The article examined the content produced by Francia Márquez’s official profiles on Twitter and Instagram during the electoral period. Francia Márquez did not run for the presidency alone but alongside Gustavo Petro, and considering the issues of gender and race analyzed in this research, we can conclude that she was a significant part of the electoral success of the Historic Pact.
