The show was opened at 12:30 by Mr Bram Stoker, novelist, who was accompanied by Mrs Stoker and Mr and Mrs Burrell, Glasgow. Provost Leask, president of the society, occupied the chair, and there was a very large and fashionable gathering, ladies predominating. Among those present were Baillies Booth and Philip, Treasurer Gordon. Councillors Duncan, Birnie, and Ritchie, ex-Baillie Ross, Messrs Robert Robertson, solicitor; Thomas Mackie, sheriff clerk depute; J. A. Smith, watchmaker; Robert Gray, solicitor; C. G. Masson, solicitor; T. H. Scott, burgh surveyor; W. Hay, coal merchant; W. L. Taylor, bookseller; David Scott, librarian; A. Macgillivray, Wellington; Forrest, Netherhills, etc.
