The Importance of Machining Parameters Toward Sustainable Micro-milling Process
摘要
This study investigates the effect of feed rate on the sustainability and efficiency of the micro-millingMicro-milling process, with a focus on producing high-quality surfaces in hard materials, Ti6Al4V. Recognizing the environmental and economic benefits of sustainable manufacturing, the study focuses on showing the importance of an optimized feed rate as a critical factor in improving surface finish in machining process. A series of controlled experiments reveals that relatively lower feed rates enable to improve surface smoothness. The analysis of surface topography indicates a link between a feed rate and the occurrence of surface defects, with higher feed rates intensifying the plowing effect and increasing irregularities on the machined surface. This study provides a better understanding of the precision required in micro-millingMicro-milling, as well as the importance of parameter management, especially feed rate, in achieving high-quality machined surfaces and sustainable practices.
