Comprehensive Cancer Care and Lifestyle Medicine
摘要
Lifestyle medicine classically consists of six pillars: diet/nutritional excellence, physical activity, avoidance of risky substances, sleep, stress management, and social connection. These non-pharmacologic interventions are engaged to attempt to prevent, reverse or slow the progression of disease, and enhance overall quality of life. Prospective, randomized controlled trials on lifestyle interventions in cancer patients have demonstrated significant benefits that are preventative, enhance the quality of life while on treatment, reduce cancer recurrence, and demonstrate slower progression of cancer in some instances. In this chapter, we attempt to evaluate data primarily within the past 5–8 years, evaluating how these lifestyle measures can be used to prevent of cancer, promote overall health, and enhance the lives of cancer patients.
