This chapter examines the possibility of developing citizenship for animals. Its guiding hypothesis is as follows: if citizenship is a legal and political issue, why should it not apply to animals, given that humans are, themselves, part of the family of animals—and that some humans are sometimes relegated to the category of animals on the fringes of politics? Following the recognition of the dignity and rights of slaves, is it possible to continue this movement of emancipation to apply to animals? Whatever the case, it is necessary to recognize that the collapses of ecosystems and the alteration of the adventure of life as a whole forces us to reconsider the place of animals, which can no longer be considered solely as a source of protein.
