A Critique of Citizenship Through Practice
摘要
This chapter shows the discrepancy between the use of citizenship by “discourse professionals” and the use made of that concept in professional practice. It reveals a gap between what is said and what is done, and a clear hierarchy of citizens (based on work and conditions of access to it, nationality and the process of acquiring naturalization, etc.) characterized by unequal treatment in legal, political, economic and social terms. What, we ask, does citizenship without equality mean? There are indeed a number of different classes of citizenship!
