Conductors
摘要
This chapter covers electric phenomena inside and outside a conductorConductor, in which the electric fieldElectric field is zero in the static condition. As a result, there is no electric chargeElectric charge inside the conductorConductor, and the conductorConductor is equipotential. When an electric chargeElectric charge is given to the conductorConductor, it is distributed only on the conductorConductor surface, in such a way that zero electric fieldZero electric field strengthElectric field strength is attained. The same thing occurs when an external electric fieldElectric field is applied to the conductorConductor. This is the electrostatic shieldingElectrostatic shielding. The electric fieldElectric field on the outside is directed normal to the surface of the conductorConductor. A special method, i.e., the method of imagesMethod of images, is introduced to determine the electric fieldElectric field outside the conductorConductor and the distribution of electric chargesElectric charge on the surface under such given conditions.
