Here we show how a general scheme of the Hamiltonian description outlined in Sect. 2.1 works for different continuous media. We describe diverse symplectic structures and normal canonical variables for a wide set of physical systems that are most important for turbulence theory. That includes hydrodynamic flows and numerous waves in plasma, solids, oceans, and atmospheres.
