Automatic Part Mix-Up Prevention in CNC Shop Floor

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is essential in achieving precision manufacturing and higher production efficiency. In a busy CNC machining shop floor, it is still difficult to guarantee error-free machining and avoid part mix-ups. It outlines a novel strategy for tackling this problem by using LabVIEW, a potent graphical programming environment, to build an automated machine vision system for part mix-up avoidance. Part mismatches during CNC machining can result in expensive mistakes, production pauses, and lowered component quality. To reduce the possibility of mistakes throughout the whole machining process, the vision system interfaces with CNC controller and provide an assistant for part mix-up prevention. Real-time monitoring of CNC machines using LabVIEW enables quick identification of inconsistencies or abnormalities in component manufacturing. A special dimension is allocated to every workpiece, and it is scanned throughout the machining process. The proper workpiece is loaded and processed on the CNC machine by using LABVIEW code. A central database that stores part specs and manufacturing information has an interface with LabVIEW. In order to keep production logs and confirm the authenticity of the parts, it compares the allocated dimensions. LabVIEW produces warnings and messages to operators and supervisors in the event of possible misunderstandings or deviations from the production plan.
