In the recent decades of the twenty-first century, due to the development of South-South cooperation and a developing protagonism of the emerging economies in comprehensive initiatives, especially regarding trade, infrastructure, and security organizations, there are competitive perspectives in global governance among great powers, mainly United States (USA) and China. Recent changes in the US foreign policy, regarding its Pivot to Asia, the development of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad), and initiatives such as the Build Back Better World (B3W) and the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), are alternatives led by Washington and G7 countries aiming to influence a new emerging framework, which contains an enhanced participation of the non-Western world. Concerning this scenario, this chapter aims to evaluate the United States’ responses, expressed in multilateral and strategic initiatives, in relation to the new global governance structures developed by emerging countries, especially under Chinese leadership, such as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). In this sense, the research addresses not only the recent transformations in US foreign policy, but also analyzes the impacts and reactions to a new emerging framework in a greater non-Western countries’ participation.

摘要
