In this chapter, I illustrate the rise of autocracy and militarism in Russia and Israel through case studies of the authoritarian politics of Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu, who in the 2020s led their countries into dangerous wars that are a major threat to world peace in the contemporary era. The militarist regimes of Putin and Netanyahu, combined with global autocracy, reveal dangerously accelerating threats to democracy, social justice, and peace on an international scale (Appelbaum 2024).

摘要

In this chapter, I illustrate the rise of autocracy and militarism in Russia and Israel through case studies of the authoritarian politics of Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu, who in the 2020s led their countries into dangerous wars that are a major threat to world peace in the contemporary era. The militarist regimes of Putin and Netanyahu, combined with global autocracy, reveal dangerously accelerating threats to democracy, social justice, and peace on an international scale (Appelbaum 2024).
