Dedicated Solutions: Neutron Therapeutics
摘要
nuBeamTM is a comprehensive neutron radiotherapy suite developed for in-hospital neutron capture therapy (NCT). nuBeamTM incorporates a proton accelerator, neutron-producing target, beam shaping assembly, image-guided robotic patient positioning system, automatic target exchange, beam and treatment control software, and treatment planning system. The nuBeamTM system features a single-ended electrostatic DC accelerator, which produces a 2.6 MeV, 30 mA proton beam. Neutrons are generated on a rotating solid lithium target. The beam shaping assembly has been designed to produce a collimated high-intensity epithermal neutron beam to meet all the recommendations in the IAEA TECDOC report 1223. An image-guided patient positioning system consists of a six-axes robotic couch with changeable carbon fiber table tops and an in-room CT device on rails. A treatment planning system for NCT has been developed as a joint project with Ray Search Laboratories (Stockholm, Sweden). The first nuBeamTM Suite was installed at Helsinki University Hospital (HUH) in Helsinki, Finland, and underwent testing in 2019 and 2020. The clinical trials to support the CE Mark will be initiated when commissioning is completed and trial approvals are obtained.
