Compact Neutron Generator for BNCT
摘要
Neutrons with energies ranging from 2.45 to 14 MeV can be produced in a compact neutron generator by using the D-D, D-T, or D-7Li fusion reaction. With new advancements in high-flux neutron generator technology and its associated moderator design along with the commercial availability of high-voltage DC power supplies, it is now possible to produce a useful flux of epithermal neutrons for boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) applications. The new compact neutron generator coupled with an efficient boron-10 compound can provide a low-cost and easy-to-operate BNCT facility well-suited for installation in the hospital environment.
