The chapter presents a study of counter-framing during recent polycrisis events in three Slovenian social fields: in the field of migrants’ rights, in the broader field of social reproductive care and in the field of urban struggles over the commons. The frame analysis of documents produced by social movement collectives in the two largest Slovenian cities, Ljubljana and Maribor, since the Covid-19 pandemic shows that three different forms of solidarity can be imagined in the different fields: civic solidarity in the field of migration, autonomous solidarity in the field of urban struggles and institutional solidarity in the field of social reproductive care. First, it is shown that in the field of migrants’ rights, activist collectives advocate for the expansion of migrants’ rights and emphasise the abolition of discriminatory migration regimes that prevent (often racialised) non-citizens from equal participation. Secondly, activist collectives in the field of (health) care and in the struggle for housing rights against neoliberal financialisation point to more formal—mechanical, contractual and welfare-state—forms of solidarity that need to be expanded and supported by the state. Finally, autonomous solidarity practised in self-organised (urban) spaces, with its emphasis on horizontal participation and direct democracy, was observed in urban and communal struggles for the commons in attempts to reshape the urban social structure.
