Sustainable development goals have been developed globally with 17 goals and 169 targets. Among the 17 goals, few focus on fuel usage, health, well-being, and climate change. Different policies were introduced and implemented globally to attain these Sustainable Development Goals. Similarly, in India, several policies were implemented and one among them is Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The aim of this policy was to provide free LPG connection for households to reduce their use of solid fuels and shift towards cleaner fuels. This study analyzed the performance of the policy in different states using a zone-wise analysis to improve efficiency in low-performing regions. A multiple variable regression model has been used to predict the values of solid fuel usage, household air pollution and LPG usage for 2030 with base year data of 2015 and 2017. The study found that the number of solid fuel users in India will fall drastically due to the policy implementation, and the usage of liquefied petroleum fuels will increase from 20 million in 2017 to 277 million in 2030. The predicted values showed that the household air pollution due to solid fuel usage will also decreases and paves way for better health and well-being. The outcomes of the study will be helpful in improving the efficiency of the policy in low performing zones. Implementing the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana policy in India contributed to sustainable development goals, and performance analysis of the targets or schemes can help reduce the policy’drawbacks to provide better results for the schemes.
