Artificial Intelligence Tools and Its Impact on Emerging Scientific Research Skills in the Humanities and Social Sciences
摘要
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has significantly impacted scientific research across various disciplines. However, there is a notable research gap in understanding how AI techniques specifically enhance research skills in the humanities and social sciences. To bridge this gap, the current study investigates how AI tools are increasingly being used in these fields and what benefits can they derive by using them. This study utilized a mixed-methods approach that combined an analysis of 150 peer-reviewed articles focusing on academic presentations. The study adopted a thematic analysis to determine major patterns and matters regarding AI application in research. Across the studies, we found AI tools resulted in a 35% increase in efficiency for research by automating data analysis and literature review processes. A considerable 78% of researchers who were surveyed noted increased accuracy for content analysis tasks when leveraging AI-powered tools. Nonetheless, the survey also revealed substantial concerns regarding these systems; 62% of respondents described bias in AI as a concern and 45% cited issues related to data privacy and ethics. These results have implications for the development of AI training programs in humanities and social science departments, as well as new discipline-specific AI tools. From this study, researchers publish that AI holds the potential to transform aid usage in research however must not substitute or replace traditional techniques such as critical thinking and ethical considerations. This suggests mainstream significance of AI adoption in promotion and evolution humanities and social science research.
