Despite advancements in supervision practice, the chapter points out the need to improve regulatory mechanisms, such as the qualifications and certification of supervisors, which have not progressed at the same pace. This highlights a significant gap that could limit the quality and consistency in the training of mental health professionals. The social constructivist approach proposed in the analysis emphasizes that, to address current challenges, it is essential to consider the political, economic, and social dimensions influencing supervision. This approach could facilitate a more comprehensive understanding of how supervision training and practice should be structured in the Guatemalan context. Finally, the chapter highlights the tension between the growing demand for mental health care and the limited training opportunities and resources available. This challenge underscores the urgency of developing strategies to expand training and supervision capacity in the country, ensuring an effective response to the population’s needs.
