This paper presents a literature review examining the relationship between universities and Industry 4.0 through an institutional lens. By adopting such a perspective, it investigates the social, cultural, and organizational dimensions influencing this interaction. The study identifies opportunities to explore further how universities actively influence the construction of Industry 4.0 as a key institutional actor. Also, the paper advocates for comparative studies across regions and deeper investigations into policies and governance structures to enhance our understanding of the interplay between universities and Industry 4.0.
