Videogames: A Pedagogical Tool for Developing Creativity and Innovation Among the Engineering Students
摘要
The research focuses on analysing the relationship between videogames as a pedagogical tool and the development of creativity and innovation among the engineering students. Thus, using previously developed studies as a starting point, a nomological network is created around the focal concepts, namely: videogames, creativity, innovation, and methods such as knowledge mapping analysis and cluster density analysis are employed. The results show that: (i) videogames are perceived as an educational innovation that enhances the development of both hard and soft skills; (ii) there is a scarcity of studies analysing the use of videogames for developing the creativity and innovation skills of the engineering students; and (iii) the influence of videogames on developing students’ innovation ability is unexplored. These findings extend the current literature by bringing forward future research avenues that could be explored in the engineering education area.
