This paper proposes a novel framework for understanding Human Oversight of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through the lens of operations management. The framework is grounded in a qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews with line managers actively involved in developing and deploying AI models for various operational decision-making processes across diverse industries. This framework aims to provide a foundation for future research endeavours, both theoretical and empirical, within the field of AI-powered operations management.
