This study presents a comparative analysis of three videoconferencing platforms employed for synchronous online teaching at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). Basic and advanced functionalities for education are identified, as well as their impact on the utilisation of active learning strategies. The findings are based on four years of user testing conducted by three UC3M instructors.
