Conciliation Between Professional, Family, and Personal Life in a Higher Education Institution
摘要
The lack of ability on the part of workers to conciliate work, family and personal life is closely related to the existence of psychosocial risks. This study aimed to investigate the ability to conciliate work, family and personal life in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) and the factors that influence this ability, to relate the levels of work stress with the ability to conciliate, and to determine whether they are aware of and/or take advantage of the tools to promote conciliation made available by the Institution. The target population was employees of an HEI and the sampling design was non-probabilistic for convenience. Data was collected through an online questionnaire. It was found that teaching staff showed a lower ability to conciliate compared to non-teaching staff and that occupational stress, as well as most of the psychosocial factors evaluated, showed a negative correlation with the ability to conciliate. The study allowed to comprehend the psychosocial risks and stress levels to which workers are exposed and to establish their relation with the ability to conciliate the three spheres. It was concluded that, in this specific case, sociodemographic factors do not represent significant differentiating factors in the ability to conciliate, family and personal life.
