L.Y.M.P.H.A. Technique in Surgical Treatment of Lymphedema: For Whom, How and When?
摘要
The LYMPHA technique represents the only surgical procedure for the primary prevention of lymphedema secondary to oncological surgery with axillary or inguinal lymph node dissection. It is a technique personally devised about 15 years ago and which has spread throughout the world. The technique consists of performing a lymphatic-venous anastomosis simultaneously with the lymph node dissection. Some examples are the prevention of secondary lymphedema of the upper limb in the treatment of breast cancer, or the prevention of secondary lymphedema of the lower limb in the treatment of vulvar cancer or trunk melanoma. The results are very significant, with a marked percentage reduction in the incidence of secondary lymphedema. This preventive surgical technique allows us to offer the patient a good quality of life, limiting the possible consequences of oncological surgical treatment.
