The Drainage of the Front of the Head—25 Human Specimens
摘要
Facial edema is common when working in an environment specializing in cancers of the ear, nose, and throat. The same applies to patients requiring maxillofacial reconstruction surgery or facial plastic surgery. Knowledge of the classic anatomy of the superficial lymphatic vessels of the head is essential for good care of these patients. Indeed, treatments of these cases by manual lymphatic drainage must act on the superficial lymphatic currents of the head and neck. The proposed compressions must also take into account the position of the lymphatic pedicles. To do this, the author offers a description of the anatomy of the superficial vessels of the head and neck. In a study of 25 human specimens, we identified 3 distinct lymph flows: the antero-internal, antero-external, and contralateral pathways.
