The host range of peste de petits ruminants virus (PPRV) has been alarmingly expanding over the last decades, and the list of infection in nonnatural hosts with PPRV is continuously growing. This has raised concerns over the global PPRV eradication which is aimed to be achieved by 2030. In this context, it is critical to delineate the host range plasticity of PPRV across small ruminants, large ruminants, or wild small ruminants where cross-species transmission of PPRV is reported. In this chapter, we have covered a list of possible PPRV hosts and other species where the infection or presence of virus has been reported. We have provided a critical analysis of the molecular factors and the role of viral evolution that define the expanding host spectrum of PPRV.

摘要
