Industry 4.0 provides an opportunity to reshape industrial practices toward sustainability by leveraging advanced technologies to optimize resource use, reduce environmental impact, and align with global goals for a more sustainable future. The research highlights the imperative need to line up educational strategies with the transformative era of Industry 4.0, emphasizing sustainability and green practices. It is crucial for educational institutions to equip students with the managerial, legal, and psychological skills and knowledge necessary for environmentally conscious and sustainable practices. The main purpose of this research is to explore the skills necessary for Industry 4.0 to shape the education system toward the needs of Industry 4.0, which will lead to sustainable practices. The main methods used in the research include desk review, analysis, synthesis, and benchmarking. The exploration of educational programs of master’s degree courses in one of the universities of the Republic of Armenia reveals that there are currently no subjects that will cover the issues of Industry 4.0 and sustainable development. Based on the analysis, the authors offer a new interdisciplinary subject, “Industry 4.0 and sustainability issues,” which will cover a broad range of topics and provide the necessary skills presented in the research. By shaping education to foster a generation of professionals capable of steering Industry 4.0 toward sustainability, this research aims to contribute to a greener and more environmentally responsible industrial future. The findings may be useful for universities, educational institutions, and state government bodies responsible for policy-making in education.
