The Digitalization Impact on Gas Station Applications in a Sustainable Development Environment
摘要
The implementation of the concept of sustainable development and the achievement of gender equality are becoming increasingly important aspects for energy brands under the influence of digitalization. The research examines the gender-specific perception of branded mobile applications of Russian gas stations (Gazpromneft, Rosneft, and LUKOIL), changing under the influence of digital transformation in the context of implementing the sustainable development concept. The introduction of smartphones and the development of mobile applications have provided brands with the opportunity to communicate more effectively with their audience, focusing on different categories of potential customers—gender differences. The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, related to gender equality, implies creating equal opportunities for men and women in all aspects of life, including access to technology and information. Based on the testing of three hypotheses, the authors proved that in this context, energy brands can pay special attention to adapting their mobile applications to the needs and preferences of men and women. For example, mobile gas station applications can be designed with ease of use and understanding in mind for all users, regardless of their gender, offering personalized content and services tailored to the different needs and interests of men and women. Thus, in the context of implementing the concept of sustainable development and gender equality, energy brands can change their approaches to developing mobile applications to meet the needs of all users and create a more inclusive environment for all.
