By granulometric composition, the clays belong to low-dispersion and coarse-dispersion raw materials. X-ray thermographic and electron-microscopic analyses revealed the presence of the clay mineral kaolinite. It was determined that the clays, in terms of oxide composition, are semi-acidic and weakly saline, with a predominant content of the clay mineral kaolinite and non-clay silicon oxides (quartz). This research aims to determine the granulometric composition of the clay for use in the production of ceramic composite materials. The research design involves a comprehensive study of the clay raw material from the Karatyt and Kalaa sections of the Tash-Kumyr deposit located in the south of the Kyrgyz Republic. The investigation includes granulometric, oxide, phase composition, and the content of water-soluble salts in the clay raw material. Technological property studies indicated that the clays from the Karatyt section are characterized by low plasticity and insensitivity to drying. The clays from the Kalaa section are moderately plastic and moderately sensitive to drying, with small values of air and total shrinkage. Clays from both sections belong to clays of medium-temperature sintering (from 1100 to 1300 °C). X-ray thermographic and electron-microscopic analyses showed the presence of the clay mineral kaolinite in the clay composition. Conclusions: It is concluded that the clay raw materials from the Karatyt and Kalaa sections of the Tash-Kumyr deposit are suitable for producing ceramic composite materials.
