In an era characterized by the fast development and implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies, the design process of future workplaces frequently dismisses contextual specificities and workers’ experiences. A mixed-methodological procedure, consisting of ethnographic fieldwork and both the development and application of a questionnaire, was employed in this study to uncover workplace risks and their impacts on health and well-being from the point of view of those experiencing these reconfigurations. The focus on work activity and the integration of workers throughout the several phases of the study distinguishes this research from the predominant technocentred approaches. The emphasis placed on workers’ dialogue offered insights regarding how work is lived daily and how health risks are perceived—key issues for designing sustainable future work situations.
