Spatial AI for Artificial General Intelligence

Certain capabilities of Spatial AI may indicate that steps towards the development of spatially-enabled Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) may have already been made, thus prompting for the formulation of criteria that would enable us to decide whether a Spatial AI has attained the status of AGI. Towards this aim, a set of ten criteria is presented here. Specifically, a spatially-enabled AGI should be able to: calculate basic metrics related to spatial objects, associate 2D and 3D shapes and patterns with semantics as humans do, recognize spatial entities (even if rotated, inverted or viewed from different angles), identify hierarchies of shapes and objects, give correct directions for navigation (and solve SLAM problems), advise on spatial decision making and spatial planning, make simple predictions of future spatial distributions, associate spatial forms with dynamics and motion, display evidence of creativity of spatial forms that can be aesthetically pleasing.
