Adolescents, Young Adults and Their Parents
摘要
A key aspect of adolescence and young adulthood is the evolving nature of the role of the parent/caregiver. Rheumatic musculoskeletal disease (RMD) affecting a young person will impact this role and the parent-young person relationship. Understanding the balance between capabilities and demands and which resources and coping behaviors are present in the family, can help health professionals facilitate a successful adaptation. This chapter will provide insight into techniques that facilitate effective engagement with Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) living with RMD and their families, and discuss key elements in the assessment of the AYA-parents dynamics in the context of RMD.
