In this chapter, we will study the concept of dominance for strategic form games. In Sect. 2.1, we will introduce strategic dominance. We will first show how a player in a given strategic form game can order her available strategies, whenever possible. Using the dominance relations induced by the individual orderings of players over their strategies, we will next introduce several equilibrium concepts. In Sect. 2.2, we will introduce another dominance concept, called the Pareto dominance. This concept will demonstrate when and how an outside observer who analyzes a strategic form game can order any two pure strategy profiles with respect to the payoff profiles they generate.
