Integrating Human Factors in Project-Oriented Risk Management for Maritime Safety
摘要
This chapter discusses the human factors integration in project-based risk management approaches for improvement of maritime safety. Specifically, it highlights the crucial role of the human factor in the prevention of accidents as well as the proper running of shipping activities. A holistic model, integrating risk assessment and human factor, which considers the recognition and management of hazards in maritime projects, is discussed in the chapter. In an in-depth analysis, it points out the necessity to take into account human-centric considerations in risk management to minimize the probability of human error and increment the general safety performance in the maritime sector. The results indicate that a mixed approach that takes technical and human factors into account is crucial to achieving sustainable and safe maritime operations.
