Architectural education and practice are in an era of intense urban transformation in which two-folded research challenge is posed: (1) the construct of cultural heritage becomes one of the leading backbones of the problem-based approaches and analytical design strategies for problem-solving through design process, and (2) the construct of built heritage manifests an increasingly complex diversification framework within which the spectrum of different types of heritage manifests itself in relation to scale, contextual factors and ideological implications. Accordingly, the question of ‘RE’ design strategies, inheritance and cultural heritage plays an important role in the academic discussion on sustainability and the collective built heritage that represents the cultural product of the contemporary era.
